Bananas for Moisturized Skin.

Image
You see those overripe bananas that you just find hard to get down your throat, you do not need to throw them. We are not wasteful here. Ripe bananas are a very versatile fruit. You can make banana bread (recipe coming up very soon) or you can use it for skin, which is our focus today. It is a very easy DIY face mask.  How to... In a bowl place a peeled banana. Using a fork, mash it until consistent. Optional; add in a quarter teaspoonful of turmeric powder.  * personally I prefer the fresh turmeric, pound it like ginger and add it to your banana. * this process can get messy if you are clumsy, so does the application process. do not forget that turmeric stains fabric. Benefits of banana on skin. 1. Moisturizes and hydrates skin. even from the texture, you can just tell that the mask is very hydrating. this is because of the potassium in it.  2. Maintains skin elasticity. The banana mask nourishes the skin and restores strength thus smoothing out aging skin. With t...

Rosemary for Hair.

Image
All-natural everything, huh? So when I plaited my braids my scalp was a little bit itchy, and I don't know why. Since products are pricey I decided to go back to what I had learned during the lockdown. Rosemary is quite affordable around where I stay, so that is what I went with. And it's fresh too. I wish I took pictures of the whole process, next time I will. But thank goodness it's not that complex nor with a lot of steps. So I guess this short article will do just fine.   Benefits of rosemary for your hair (from my experience). 1. Relieves irritated scalp. I have sprayed the rosemary water on my scalp for close to a week and a half now, everyday and it is no longer itchy. Rosemary water is refreshing to your scalp and hair, as much as it is aromatic thus good for aromatherapy- which is a plus. Aaaand, you can also use it to soothe dry, flaky scalp and dandruff . 2. Increases sheen. You know there is a difference between sheen and shine. there are times that you can loo...

FOMO!

February... uweeeeeh. Hata sio February tu, I guess ni 2022. You know that time you are chilling on your phone ukiview status, internet inabuffer so it's just pass, pass, be patient a little, pass. Then there is a particular status or story that catches your attention. And you just want to knooooow, you have to know. So you choose to wait for it to load. At first, you view it out of curiosity. Then you start replaying it, and you replay it, and you replay it. You are in denial, a little bit of the green monster.  FOMO then hits you hard. You start comparing. If you are like me, it calls for a deep dive into the internet🧐. You want to know how often does the particular situation happen in their life. And you want to find out what it is they do that you do not. It becomes a whole lingering, in most cases overbearing, feeling that just eats you from the inside. Unfortunately, we more often than not let it take over us. I vowed to be very intentional this year. Have I been handed a ru...

Clarity, I guess.

"I'm working on consistency." I have really been trying. You know those instances when a bulb lights up in your head and your like I should try to note this down. So I rush to my phone and type a draft, hoping to get back to it as soon as possible. Ooooooops, three weeks later I get back to it and I'm not feeling as I was in that light bulb moment, so I end up deciding to put it off.  Today, I was on a mission to overthink some more about my life🙃. I was questioning my intention for this blog. And I ended up filling my head with so much doubt. I was wondering how come I only want to write about the things I write about (I honestly could not find a word to best describe the things I write). I was so close to reverting the recipes that I have already posted🤦🏿‍♀️ and also changing the introduction to the blog, but then I got a bit of clarity before I could go through with it.  For some reason, I thought that I would end up being monotonous, and I do NOT want this expe...

RECHARGE🍃

Alexa, play breathin' by Ariana Grande. Some days, things just taaake  Way too much of my energy ... Is it just me or is the air in the country fresher, the sky higher and the ground easier to walk on- Caucasian Chalk Circle nostalgia😂😂. Honestly though, what's all that hustle in the city about!! It's just too exhausting.  The excitement that gets me when I hear birds chirp is just exhilarating, the smell of fresh grass early in the morning as the dew evaporates, the smell of fresh soil, the calming wind in the trees. Wachana na vumbi huwa nakula kila siku nikikimbia class* major face palm. Truth be told, I would choose the country over the city through all the lives that I get to live. The peace that I get from being upcountry is unmatched. I really enjoy the lifestyle and the calm vibrations it holds. I am always recharged. And oooh, do I need a recharge.  I just need to breath *long deep breath. Reset. Find my bearing. Manifest too, at my most tranquil state and surr...

STOP TO SMELL THE ROSES.

This particular 'title' has been in my drafts for the longest time. But I never really got the right words for it. Sometimes life gets too carzy that you even forget to live in the moment. So many of my family and friends kept asking what happened to my blog...na vile nilikuwa na psyche🙄. But I honestly think that maybe this is the perfect time to pick it up. So ever since the new year began I have been seeing some angel numbers repeatedly. And they all point to living in the moment and being present. This is something that most of us as young people just fail to do. You wake up do the same thing and go to bed just to wake up and do the same things we did yesterday and the day before... literally like living in a constant loop. Dream ya kutoka kwa block...but we just forget to take sometime to breath. Ni maisha utaishi ama ni pesa utatafuta, na si ati kupata pesa ni rahisi. We are constantly chasing life, forgetting that we still need to live and not just exist.  I have been s...

BABY STEPS.

"I am a better friend than I am a girlfriend!" For the longest time, this has been the statement I have used. You know that time when a friend of yours or even an aquintance finally confesses his feelings for you and you don't think it would be ideal to date. Then they are left in confusion from that statement.  To be honest, I also didn't quite understand that statement. I just knew that I meant it, but not the underlying reasons. Up until I watched a certain tiktok the other day and I wish I knew myself back then as I do now, so as to be able to explain that statement and not just leave him 'hanging' . We are always afraid of people getting closer to us due to our insecurities and past traumas eg lack of trust. That is why we feel as though once someone gets too close the relationship will not be as it was. And at that point you can't promise him that it will be worth it in the end, if he chooses to stick around, since it is hard enough for you to work o...

HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH💪🏾.

So today after class I was taking pictures with my friends and the moment I looked at my photos my mood went from 100 to 0 quite fast. I have been so self conscious about my smile for more than two years now. Before I went to bed that night I felt as though my face was swollen. I kept asking watu kwa nyumba kama uso yangu imefura but it wasn't. So the next morning I wake up as usual and I go ahead to prepare for school. While brushing my teeth I notice that a section of my face feels heavy...nikijaribu kugaggle maji I notice I cant hold any water in my mouth, inamwagika tu. At this point I am extremely scared. "Kwani nakufa😂," as the drama queen that I am. I try to shake it off and just get to school. The moment nataka kucross barabara something gets into my left eye and I can't blink. I was terrified to the extent that I froze in the middle of the road. It was at this moment that I knew I couldn't ignore whatever was going on. I decide to ditch school and go bac...
