BABY STEPS.

"I am a better friend than I am a girlfriend!" For the longest time, this has been the statement I have used. You know that time when a friend of yours or even an aquintance finally confesses his feelings for you and you don't think it would be ideal to date. Then they are left in confusion from that statement.  To be honest, I also didn't quite understand that statement. I just knew that I meant it, but not the underlying reasons. Up until I watched a certain tiktok the other day and I wish I knew myself back then as I do now, so as to be able to explain that statement and not just leave him 'hanging' . We are always afraid of people getting closer to us due to our insecurities and past traumas eg lack of trust. That is why we feel as though once someone gets too close the relationship will not be as it was. And at that point you can't promise him that it will be worth it in the end, if he chooses to stick around, since it is hard enough for you to work o...

HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH💪🏾.

So today after class I was taking pictures with my friends and the moment I looked at my photos my mood went from 100 to 0 quite fast. I have been so self conscious about my smile for more than two years now. Before I went to bed that night I felt as though my face was swollen. I kept asking watu kwa nyumba kama uso yangu imefura but it wasn't. So the next morning I wake up as usual and I go ahead to prepare for school. While brushing my teeth I notice that a section of my face feels heavy...nikijaribu kugaggle maji I notice I cant hold any water in my mouth, inamwagika tu. At this point I am extremely scared. "Kwani nakufa😂," as the drama queen that I am. I try to shake it off and just get to school. The moment nataka kucross barabara something gets into my left eye and I can't blink. I was terrified to the extent that I froze in the middle of the road. It was at this moment that I knew I couldn't ignore whatever was going on. I decide to ditch school and go bac...

UGALI MAYAI NA MBOGA WITH A TWIST😌

Image
It's usually chapo beans kama ni kununua ama kamani kujipikia we are, most times going for ugali mayai (campus chronicles). Ugali mayai na skuma ama spinach. Lakini mimi kama mluhya I went with kienyeji. This is a mixture of sagaa and nderema, something I have never tried before but uweeeeh, it's so good. I am not the biggest fan of eggs, other than gradually outgrowing my allergy towards it. Thus, I am always trying to spice up my eggs. How convenient that eggs are so versatile 💃🏾. In this recipe I did some kind of sunny side up eggs but with tomatoes and all. However, I do not fancy runny eggs so my yokes are cooked through. I'm not sure if there's an actual name for cooking eggs this way, if you know please comment below. You can get eggs from any retail shop ama pia kwa soko. Mboga za kienyeji ziko kwa soko. In the city you mostly find them wakati zishadondolewa ( I have really tried to find an English word for it but my head just refuses to think😂). I think in ...

PEANUT BUTTER AND OATS COOKIES🍪

Image
Cookies are one of the most easiest baked treats. Honestly I was shocked to find out that it was as easy as it is to bake them. I started baking during quarantine in 2020 and I can for sure say that this is the best thing and the best result out of all my many many projects in the kitchen that kept me busy.  The cookies are soft yet crunchy due to the combination of peanut butter and oats. You can use whichever peanut butter you see fit for your taste whether smooth, salted etc. Personally I went for smooth peanut butter. For the oats I personally prefer whole oats. Unaweza pata oats in any supermarket and the peanut butter can be homemade or the ones in the shops (for some reason I feel the need to say commercial peanut butter).  The best recipe for a cold day when you just want to curl up and bite bite on something! PREP TIME: 25 min         COOKING TIME: 15 min                12 PIECES. INGREDIENTS. 60 g peanu...
