MATOKE AND FRENCH BEANS🤤

Image
I am sure that most of us have been stuffed with matoke while growing up; ama waru au malenge saa zingine zote zapikwa pamoja. Matoke is such a common children's meal to the extent that you find so many people 'outgrowing' it. As for me, I have loved matoke my entire life and seeing that there are so many ways of preparing the dish is just it for me. I have been able to eat those that are washed and boiled with the peels on, then you get to peel, unaweka chumvi and eat it. Maybe with tea au kitoweo chochote kama nyama ama  kuku, whatever you prefer. Then there's the mashed bananas which is also so interesting.  But today, I wanted to go with stewed matoke accompanied with some french beans. Campus students are always looking for the easiest recipes cos we all know how hard it is to cook while you are living by yourself and trying your best to maintain your adult life; adulting is a scam. So the moment nilienda kwa sister yangu na nikaona kuna matoke I wouldn't pass...

AUTHENTICITY.

It's not false that the white man came and distorted all that our ancestors and forefathers held dear and sacred. It is really unfortunate that up to date all these affect us. From how we dress, what we eat and even how we speak. If only we would teach our children to embrace and be more proud of our own culture. When I was younger mtu angeniita Nyagoha ningejaaam. I even went to the extent of denying my own skin just because watu walikuwa wananiita blaki. I used to tell my friends back in lower primary that that wasn't my real skin, and that once I got home I would shower with a specific bar soap that would help me peel away the fake one. These were words coming from a 7 year old. And it didn't even help that I grew around a predominantly Ethiopian, Eritrian and Arab neighbou...

CRAZY LITTLE DREAMS.

On this very chilly afternoon, in my bedsitter curling up just after a zoom meeting and I'm like, hmmm lets see what google blogger is about. I have always had the idea in my head. I don't know if I should say it was there as a joke or what it was exactly. However I have always found excuses on not to have it, oooh sitakuwa na time oooh it will take too much of my energy. Lakini, what is yours will always find you. I am really hoping that this is the case for me. They weren't wrong when they said your 20's are the time for you to explore. I am barely in my 20s lakini ukiona ni vitu ngapi nataka kufanya or I have already tried and quit or I am still trying. All these is just all sorts of crazy, not knowing what you really want or knowing exactly what you want but lacking the resources or knowledge on how to go about it. There's just so much that I could write about my experience as a 20 year old so far. I have quite a number of friends that blog. I'm always rea...
